KUALA LUMPUR, March 30 — The number of districts in Kedah under the Level One heatwave alert has dropped to seven as of 4pm today, from nine earlier in the morning, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
In its latest update, it clarified that Pulau Langkawi and Kubang Pasu have been removed from the Level One alert list. Meanwhile, Marudi in Sarawak has been added to the alert status.
The seven districts in Kedah are Kuala Muda, Kota Setar, Baling, Sik, Padang Terap, Pendang, and Pokok Sena, while all of Perlis remains under the same alert level.
MetMalaysia also confirmed that no areas had recorded Level Two heatwave conditions as of this afternoon.
A Level One heatwave alert is issued for daily maximum temperatures of 35°C to 37°C, while Level Two refers to temperatures above 37°C up to 40°C for at least three consecutive days.
