IPOH, March 26 — The police have seized 20.2kg of ketamine worth more than RM1 million, kept in a gunny sack at the Pasir Bogak area in Pulau Pangkor.
Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said a team from the Manjung district police headquarters' Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department and the Pangkor police station found the sack at 9pm yesterday following a public tip-off.
“An inspection of the sack uncovered 20 plastic packets believed to contain ketamine, estimated to be worth more than RM1.01 million,” he said in a statement today.
No arrests were made.
“The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which provides for the death penalty or life imprisonment and at least 12 strokes of the cane upon conviction,” Hisam said.
