Ugadi celebration reflects Selangor’s commitment to preserving cultural diversity

SHAH ALAM, March 21 — The state made history with the first-ever state-level celebration of the Telugu New Year (Ugadi), aimed at elevating cultural heritage and strengthening unity within its multicultural society.

State executive councillor for human resources and poverty eradication Papparaidu Veraman said the organisation reflects the state government’s commitment to preserving cultural diversity as a foundation for harmony.

He also expressed appreciation to Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari for his support in ensuring the celebration's success.

“I am deeply grateful for the concern and support shown by the Dato’ Menteri Besar in making this celebration possible.

“This festival reflects the richness of culture that forms the foundation of harmony in our multi-ethnic society,” Papparaidu said in a Facebook post.

He added that Ugadi is an important celebration for the Telugu community, observed as a symbol of new beginnings and an opportunity to renew aspirations towards a better life.

The celebration was further enlivened by the presence of the public, particularly members of the Telugu community, in an atmosphere filled with harmony and goodwill.
