KUALA LUMPUR, March 16 —A robber was killed after he was shot by a security guard while trying to rob a gold shop in Section 14, Petaling Jaya, this morning.
Petaling Jaya district police chief Shamsudin Mamat said the man died while on the way to the hospital for treatment.
“I confirm the incident, and the autopsy is being carried out. A media statement will be issued shortly,” he said when contacted.
Meanwhile, a source informed that the suspect, who was armed with a sharp object, had been seriously injured when he was shot while trying to rob the gold shop at about 11am.
The suspect was believed to have arrived at the shop by motorcycle and entered, as it was empty since it had just opened.
He is believed to have been involved in a scuffle with a security guard before another security guard realised the situation and fired two rounds in the direction of the suspect.
