Towering flames destroy four factories in Balakong fire

SHAH ALAM, March 15 — Four factories in Taman Cheras Jaya, Balakong were destroyed in a fire last night, with towering flames seen before firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control.

Berita Harian reported Selangor Fire and Rescue Department's (JBPM) assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar as saying that they received a report on the incident at 9.24pm.

In response, fire engines and personnel from the Bandar Tun Hussin Onn Fire and Rescue Station were immediately deployed to the scene to carry out firefighting operations.

“The fire involved four factories and was successfully brought under control at 10.18pm. The level of destruction for each factory is estimated at 50 per cent, 80 per cent, 90 per cent, and 100 per cent, respectively,” he said.

Mukhlis added that firefighting operations were still ongoing at three affected premises, while JBPM's drone unit had also been deployed to assist with monitoring and assessing the fire situation.

The operation also received assistance from several other fire stations, including Seri Kembangan, Kajang, Jalan Hang Tuah, Cheras, Bangi, and Petaling Jaya, as well as support from the Serdang Volunteer Fire and Rescue Team and the police.
