KLANG, March 13 — A trader allegedly involved in a fatal road incident in Kapar, Klang, last week was charged with murder at the Magistrate’s Court here today.
R. Ganesalingam, 49, was accused of ramming a four-wheel drive (4WD) into two men on a motorcycle, killing the pillion rider, Bernama reported.
He nodded when the charge was read out before Magistrate A. Karthiyayini. No plea was recorded as the case falls under the High Court's jurisdiction.
Ganesalingam was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment of up to 40 years, along with a minimum of 12 strokes of whipping if the death sentence is not imposed.
He is charged with the murder of K. Tinesh Kumar, 33, in front of the Taman Seri Kapar junction, Batu 12, Jalan Keretapi Lama off Jalan Kapar, Klang, at 9.47am on March 5.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nadia Syuhada Rosli represented the prosecution, while Ganesalingam was represented by lawyer K. Nathiya. The court set April 22 for the next mention, pending the submission of the forensic report.
