Man dies after jumping from third floor during police raid

SHAH ALAM, March 12 — A man died after he was believed to have jumped from the third floor of a residential unit on Jalan Gombak while attempting to flee a police raid linked to a motorcycle theft case last night.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the incident occurred at about 9.07 pm when a team of police officers carried out a raid at the premises.

“Both suspects attempted to escape by jumping from the third floor of the building.

“A 52-year-old local man was confirmed dead at the scene while the other survived,” he said in a statement today.

Fadil said the case has been classified as a sudden death report (SDR).

According to him, the raid also led to the arrest of 12 individuals at the residence.

“Police detained 12 individuals comprising four men, five women and three children, aged between three and 42, including two Indonesian nationals.

“Police also seized two stolen motorcycles and several types of drugs at the residence. Further investigations are ongoing,” he said.

Fadil also advised the public not to speculate about the incident to avoid confusion and public concern.
