COLOMBO, March 10 — Sri Lanka increased retail fuel prices from midnight yesterday, citing volatile global crude oil prices driven by the ongoing conflict in West Asia, according to the state-run Ceylon Petroleum Corporation.
Xinhua reported that under the revision, the price of Auto Diesel increased by 22 rupees (RM0.28) to 303 rupees (RM3.84) per litre, while Super Diesel rose by 24 rupees (RM0.30) to 353 rupees (RM4.47) per litre.
Petrol 92 Octane was increased by 24 rupees to 317 rupees (RM4.02) per litre, and Petrol 95 Octane by 25 rupees (RM0.32) to 365 rupees (RM4.63) per litre.
The price of kerosene was also raised by 13 rupees (RM0.16) to 195 rupees (RM2.47) per litre.
It added that orders have been placed to meet national fuel requirements through August, in addition to long-term tenders arranged by the government.
On Sunday (March 8), Ceylon Petroleum Corporation's managing director Mayura Neththikumarage said that the country had sufficient stocks of fuel to last until the end of April under prevailing consumption patterns.
