SHAH ALAM, March 8 — The sacrifices of women who shoulder multiple roles within the family, especially throughout Ramadan, deserve recognition as much of their efforts take place behind the scenes and often go unnoticed.
State executive councillor for women empowerment and welfare Anfaal Saari noted that many women begin their day earlier to prepare sahur, wake family members up and manage household responsibilities before starting their daily routines.
She said these responsibilities continue until the break of fast, even after a full day of work.
“After a long day at work, they are still thinking about preparations for breaking fast, cooking and ensuring the household continues to run smoothly.
“Much of this effort happens behind the scenes and is rarely noticed, but it carries great meaning,” she said in a Facebook post, in conjunction with International Women’s Day that is celebrated annually on March 8.
Anfaal also expressed appreciation to women in Selangor and across the country who continue to show commitment to their families and communities.
Meanwhile, Kota Kemuning state assemblyman Preakas Samunatahan said the International Women’s Day celebration serves as a reminder that gender equality is guaranteed under Article 8 of the Federal Constitution.
He said education is a crucial foundation for women’s empowerment and that every girl should be given the opportunity to learn and achieve her full potential.
This, he said, would enable women to build a better future while contributing to the development of society.
“The participation of women in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) must also continue to be strengthened in line with a world increasingly driven by innovation.
“When women and girls are empowered through education, opportunities and equal legal protection, a more inclusive and just society can be built,” he said.
March 8 is celebrated as International Women’s Day, a global observance held annually to recognise the contributions and significant roles of women in various aspects of life, including family, society, the economy and national development.
