Exco issues LOD over false claim of non-Muslim appointment

SHAH ALAM, March 8 — State executive councillor for Islam and innovation Dr Fahmi Ngah has confirmed that his lawyer has sent a letter of demand to individuals who spread false claims regarding the appointment of a non-Muslim officer in his team.

He said the action was taken after one to two social media accounts had yet to remove the posts despite prior warnings.

“I had warned the individuals who uploaded the content to take it down within 24 hours. However, one to two accounts have still not removed the posts.

“Accordingly, my lawyer has sent a letter of demand to the parties involved, and further action will be considered thereafter,” he told Media Selangor.

Fahmi denied the claims circulating on social media and clarified that the individual in question is not a staff member of his office.

He said he has never made such an appointment as alleged.

He urged everyone to stop spreading falsehoods and to verify information before sharing it on social media.

According to him, spreading baseless claims not only confuses the public but can also tarnish an individual’s image and the credibility of the state government.

Previously, a social media post in the form of a poster went viral, congratulating a non-Muslim individual on their alleged appointment as senior secretary to the Selangor state executive councillor for Islam and innovation.

The post caused widespread confusion and drew mixed reactions from social media users.
