KLANG, March 7 — The largest wholesale centre, GM Klang, is providing opportunities for disabled entrepreneurs to generate income and expand their market reach through the Ramadan Bazaar and Rioooh Raya Bazaar, organised in conjunction with this year’s festive season.
GM Klang brand communications executive Nurhani Yasmeen Mohd Zainan said the initiative is implemented through collaboration with the Selangor MyOKU Entrepreneurs Cooperative as a commitment to strengthening inclusivity for the disabled community.
“This is the first collaboration with the disabled community, carried out by providing a platform for them to introduce their products and meet customers directly at this Ramadan bazaar.
“Each trader offers a variety of traditional dishes and meals for breaking fast, giving visitors more options,” she told Media Selangor during the GM Klang Mega Iftar yesterday.
Nurhani added that GM Klang remains committed to continuing collaboration with various parties and the disabled community and is open to accepting more participants in the future.

Meanwhile, Selangor MyOKU Entrepreneurs Cooperative chairman Muhamad Asyraf Mahat expressed appreciation for GM Klang's support in opening opportunities for disabled entrepreneurs to generate income through business activities.
“GM Klang is also offering a 25 per cent discount on site rental for one month, helping to ease the burden on disabled entrepreneurs.
“Therefore, we are targeting total sales by disabled entrepreneurs throughout this Ramadan at around RM500,000, with estimated daily sales between RM900 and RM1,000 for each trader,” he said.

One trader, Mohd Nor Faizal Mohd Said, 35, who has the opportunity to trade at the bazaar, offers new hope to generate income after he was diagnosed with Stage Three lymphoma in November last year.
He is currently running a small-scale nasi lemak business with his wife, as he is still undergoing treatment and has no fixed income.
“I hope the opportunity given at GM Klang will help increase my income, and the response from customers has also been very encouraging,” Faizal said.

For trader Siti Fatimah Zainal, the opportunity to trade is especially meaningful, as disabled persons often face difficulties securing permanent employment.
Diagnosed with schizophrenia eight years ago, the 46-year-old also has a 15-year-old son with an intellectual disability and previously only traded at night markets.
“I am trying to seize this new opportunity by starting to trade at the GM Klang Ramadan Bazaar so that it can help increase my family’s income,” she said.

The GM Klang Ramadan Bazaar operates daily from 3pm to 8pm, with 35 local entrepreneurs participating, including 15 disabled entrepreneurs, offering a range of traditional dishes and meals for breaking fast.
Meanwhile, the Rioooh Raya Bazaar, held around the premises, offers a range of Hari Raya Aidilfitri essentials, including festive clothing, accessories, crackers, traditional cookies, and home decorations.
