GOMBAK, March 7 — The East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project in Selangor is now 80.68 per cent done, while the nationwide progress is at 91.7 per cent, said Gombak district officer Nor Azlina Abdul Aziz.
She said the high-impact rail project is on schedule, including infrastructure construction works and train and rail system installation.
“Construction and finishing for the ECRL Gombak passenger station building are in the final phase,” she said in her speech at a Ramadan event graced by Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj at Masjid Darul Ulum in Sungai Buloh last night.
The ECRL spans 665km, with around 92km of the rail line in Selangor. It is expected to be done in December and start operating next January.

Previously, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the ECRL will open new doors for economic, logistic and trade activities in Selangor.
In reference to the ECRL Integrated Land Use Master Plan, he said each of the five stations in Selangor were designed to fulfil certain strategic roles, in line with the objective to improve state transport facilities and foster economic growth.
Below are the list of ECRL stations in Selangor and their functions:
Gombak Integrated Terminal — Passengers’ entry into the East Coast region
Bandar Serendah — Main logistics hub
Puncak Alam — To drive heritage tourism
Kapar — High-value industrial area
Jalan Kastam — International entry point
In a related development, Nor Azlina said upgrades to Sungai Batu and areas implicated in Phase 2 of the ECRL project, which kicked off in February 2025, are going well, with progress at 35 per cent.
The upgrades cost an estimated RM5 million and are set to reduce the impact of floods at several nearby hotspots.
