GOMBAK, March 6 — Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj today officiated Masjid Darul Ulum in Sungai Buloh as part of the Ihya’ Ramadan event.

At the same event, His Royal Highness presented Aidilfitri contributions to 521 asnaf, comprising 147 fakir, 248 poor people, and 126 reverts, for a total of RM260,500, with each recipient getting RM500.

After the aid handover ceremony, the Sultan broke fast with the people before performing congregational Maghrib, Isyak and tarawih prayers at the mosque.

Masjid Darul Ulum, which sits on a 0.3ha plot, was built in January 2023 to the tune of RM7 million from the state government and public contributions.

The mosque can house 1,500 congregants, and was opened in December 2024.

Earlier, the Ruler arrived at the mosque with Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, and was welcomed by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari and state executive councillor for Islam and innovation Dr Fahmi Ngah.

Also present were State Secretary Dato’ Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin, Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) chairman Dato’ Salehuddin Saidin, Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) director Dato’ Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad, and Selangor Mufti Dato’ Anhar Opir.
