MCMC sets up KinderHub to help staff balance careers with family life

CYBERJAYA, March 3 — The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has taken steps to improve staff welfare with the opening of its KinderHub@MCMC childcare centre and preschool.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the centre, which started operating in mid-January, reflects MCMC’s commitment to making family the foundation of a productive, balanced and resilient workforce.

“This is not a mere facility but MCMC’s effort to ensure its employees’ well-being by prioritising family as a main pillar.

“KinderHub provides quality early education and helps employees balance career and family demands,” he said when officiating KinderHub@MCMC here today.

Also present were Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah and MCMC chairman Tan Sri Salim Fateh Din.

Fahmi said the centre operates every Monday to Friday, 7am to 7pm, and currently has 76 children aged three months to six years under its care.

He added that KinderHub is equipped with various facilities including a reading room and playground, and can house up to 150 children at any given time.

“This facility is hoped to bring parents peace of mind in balancing career and family responsibilities, and support emotional well-being, focus, and productivity,” he said.

Fahmi also expressed hope that the MCMC initiative be exemplified by other statutory bodies as it presents a significant benefit to employees.
