PETALING JAYA, March 3 — Train services on the Putrajaya MRT line were severely disrupted this morning after a case of cable theft cut the power supply between Sungai Buloh and Damansara Damai stations.

Operator Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd said initial investigation revealed power cables near Damansara Damai had been cut and stolen, leading to “serious” service interruptions.

“Extensive repair work is necessary and is expected to continue throughout the day.

"Due to this service disruption, passengers are expected to experience longer waiting times on the platforms, especially between Metro Prima Station and Damansara Damai Station," the company said in a statement today.

It added that alternative train services are being provided to connect the affected stations, as follows:

  • Alternative train from Putrajaya Sentral Station will turn back at Metro Prima Station with a frequency of six minutes

  • Shuttle train running between Metro Prima Station and Damansara Damai Station with a frequency of eight minutes

  • Train from Kwasa Damansara Station will turn back at Damansara Damai Station with a frequency of eight minutes

To ensure passenger safety and smooth movement, Rapid Rail said auxiliary police officers and station staff have been deployed on platforms and concourse areas to assist passengers.

Regular announcements regarding train schedules are also being made at the stations.

"Passengers are advised to consider alternative transportation to reach their destinations."
