KLANG, March 2 — Thirteen flood mitigation projects have been activated in Klang, said district officer Amri Ismail.
He added that of the 13, five main ones will be completed in stages from the third quarter of this year.
“These involve the construction of a pumphouse in Taman Melawis; flood catchment pond and pumphouse in Taman Mutiara, Bukit Raja; and shore fortification works at Kampung Sungai Serdang and Kampung Tok Muda, Kapar,” he said in a speech during a breaking of fast event with Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah at Masjid Nurul Iman in Teluk Gadong here today.

In a related development, Amri said RM98 million has been allocated this year for maintenance and cleanups in Klang to ensure cleanliness.
He said the Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) has executed various initiatives to maintain optimal cleanliness, especially in solid waste management.
Among these measures are area monitoring via the i-Pocket app, resolving complaints within 24 hours, and static operations on trash heaps.
“With this allocation, waste management monitoring has been strengthened with CCTV recordings and periodic surveys at landfills using drones.
“We will also set up the Klang Cleanliness Special Committee to take immediate steps to ensure Klang continues to be clean and cared for,” Amri added.
