KUALA LANGAT, March 1 — A Hari Raya Aidilfitri advertisement titled Geng Raya Senteng, produced by the state government this year, carries a strong message of racial unity among the people of Selangor.

State executive councillor for culture and housing cum Tanjong Sepat state assemblyman Datuk Borhan Aman Shah said the advertisement tells the story of a family facing challenges in the lead-up to Syawal before receiving help from neighbours of various ethnic backgrounds.

The main message highlighted is the spirit of unity and mutual assistance that has long been practised by Selangor's residents.

“There exists a very close and positive sense of unity, particularly among the multiracial people of Selangor: Malays, Chinese, Indians, and the Orang Asli, who live in harmony.

“We are trying to convey a message so that the people realise that from the past until now, we continue to help one another and live in consensus in celebrating any festival.

“We celebrate all festivities, and that is the message we wish to deliver,” he told Media Selangor at the filming location in Teratak Shah Bonda, Kampung Batu Laut yesterday.

Borhan added that the advertisement features actors like Raja Azura and Rusdi Ramli, along with a special appearance by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

Geng Raya Senteng's production required three days of filming, with crew members and actors from various ethnic backgrounds, including Chinese and Indian participants, to reflect the unity theme.

“This year, we are presenting something different, as the message is delivered through an advertisement format, unlike the previous three years, which adopted a drama approach,” he said.

Meanwhile, Borhan said this year’s takbir raya recording introduces a new element, as it was conducted at Masjid Jamek Klang instead of previous locations such as paddy fields and Bukit Jugra.

“We also want to demonstrate unity with the community, particularly among the asnaf (Islamic tithe recipients), including muallafs (converts, who joined us for the takbir raya recording for the Selangor government,” he said.

The advertisement's broadcast date and time will be announced once discussions with RTM are finalised. It will be aired on RTM’s official platforms and on Media Selangor ahead of Aidilfitri.
