KOTA KINABALU, March 1 — The number of flood evacuees in Sabah dropped to 6,462 people from 2,124 families as of 8am today, compared with 6,595 people from 2,173 families recorded yesterday.
The Sabah State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) Secretariat said 30 temporary relief centres (PPS) remained operational across three districts: Beaufort, Membakut, and Tenom.
In a statement, it said that Tenom remained the worst-affected district with 4,931 evacuees, followed by Beaufort (1,462 people), and Membakut (69 people).
Beaufort and Membakut are located on Sabah’s west coast, southwest of Kota Kinabalu, while Tenom is situated in the state’s interior.
The total number of villages affected by floods across the three districts remained at 155, with no casualties or fatalities reported.
