SHAH ALAM, Feb 20 — Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj graced a breaking fast event with the people at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque here today.
His Royal Highness was accompanied by Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah, and Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
The Sultan presented Aidilfitri aid of RM250,500 to 501 recipients, including the asnaf and muallaf groups, from around Shah Alam. Each received RM500.
The Ruler also received over RM11 million in zakat from six companies, including four state government subsidiaries.
The payments were made by Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor Bhd (RM3.4 million), Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI (RM1.21 million), Central Spectrum (M) Sdn Bhd (RM1.09 million), Rafulin Sdn Bhd (RM2.4 million), Kumpulan Worldwide Holdings Bhd (RM2 million), and Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd (RM1.2 million).
Sultan Sharafuddin also received a mock key of Klinik Mata Wakaf Selangor to Management & Science University (MSU), valued at RM419,000.
The Ruler then received mock Wakaf Korporat cheques from Public Islamic Bank Bhd (RM1 million) and the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) (RM50,000).
After breaking fast, the Sultan performed Maghrib, Isyak and tarawih prayers with congregants.
Also present were Selangor State Secretary Dato’ Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin, Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) chairman Dato’ Salehuddin Saidin, state executive councillor for Islam and innovation Dr Fahmi Ngah, Selangor Mufti Dato’ Anhar Opir, and Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) director Dato’ Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad.
