SHAH ALAM, Dec 18 — Most local councils in Selangor will use new trash compactor and roll-on, roll-offs (roros) next year, said KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd (KDEBWM) managing director Dato’ Ramli Mohd Tahir.
He said the higher-capacity vehicles will allow for more garbage to be collected and avoid damage that could affect operations.
“All local councils except the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) and Kuala Selangor Municipal Council (MPKL) will use the new vehicles. This is because both their contracts end in March and December next year.
“The Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ), Sabak Bernam District Council (MDSB) and some areas under the Kajang Municipal Council’s (MPKj) jurisdiction will get the new lorries in January.
“KDEBWM will ensure the transition to the new assets will not cause damage or disrupt garbage collection. These contract renewals will also consider new settlements and population growth,” Ramli said when met after a KDEBWM cleanup operation on Jalan Kristal in Section 7 here yesterday.
State executive councillor for local government and tourism Dato’ Ng Suee Lim was also present.

Ramli said every complaint KDEBWM receives, be it through the iClean app or elected representatives, will be resolved in 24 hours.
“We do receive complaints and they are discussed every month with local councils during special meetings. Immediate action is taken, but sometimes complaints are baseless or repetitive.
“However, we still take note of them, and KDEBWM also resolves illegal dumping issues, even if those are beyond our jurisdiction,” he said.
He also emphasised that only licensed Malaysians, not foreigners, are allowed to drive KDEBWM trash compactors.
“From our monitoring, there hasn’t been any (foreigners driving KDEBWM trash compactors), but if there is, action will be taken against the appointed contractor,” Ramli added.
