SHAH ALAM, Aug 11 — Bidding for the special SIS vehicle registration number series, in honour of Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, will open to the public from Thursday to August 19.
In a statement on Facebook today, the Selangor Royal Office said the auction will be held in conjunction with the Sultan’s 80th birthday in December and his silver jubilee next year.
The Transport Ministry, via the Road Transport Department (JPJ), will conduct the online bidding via the JPJeBid system, with results to be announced on August 20.
Bidding will be subject to JPJ’s existing terms and minimum prices. The department will be the sole authority handling the sale, with no third-party involvement.
Proceeds from the auction will partly go to a royal foundation under the Ruler’s patronage, supporting charitable efforts such as scholarships and emergency aid.
The foundation will be chaired by Selangor Royal Council member and former Bank Negara Malaysia governor Tan Sri Muhammad Ibrahim to ensure transparent governance.
Meanwhile, JPJ in a statement reminded bidders that any acquired registration number must be assigned to a vehicle within 12 months of the issuance of the official result letter.
