2026 a pivotal year for Kuala Selangor with major projects underway

KUALA SELANGOR, Feb 25 — The year 2026 is set to be a key period for Kuala Selangor, with multiple development projects planned for the district, said Kuala Selangor district officer Mohd Raiz Radzuan.

Several major projects are expected to be completed this year, including Phase 1 of the Sungai Buloh Flood Mitigation Project (RTB), which aims to reduce flooding along the river, benefiting seven residential areas and five villages. The project will cover more than 10,000 residents at a cost of RM34.5 million, with completion targeted for August.

Mohd Raiz made the remarks while speaking at a Ramadan breaking-of-fast event at Masjid Jamek Sultan Ibrahim, attended by Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, the Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah, and Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

The West Coast Expressway (WCE) project from Kuala Selangor to Tanjung Karang is also expected to be completed by December, reducing traffic congestion along the 29.5km stretch, especially during festive periods.

Two new development projects are underway: Scientex Park in Bestari Jaya and Koridor Baru Selangor by Sime Darby (SD) Guthrie and SD Property.

Scientex Park includes mixed development with terrace houses, 2,093 Rumah Selangorku units, office shops, and commercial lots.

Koridor Baru Selangor spans 5,000 acres — 3,000 acres in Bukit Cerakah and Bukit Kerayong, Kuala Selangor, and 2,000 acres in Pulau Carey, Klang — focusing on sustainable heavy industry integrated with maritime networks including the third terminal at Pelabuhan Klang, the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL), and the WCE highway.

Earlier, the Selangor government identified 1,699.68 hectares for the third port at Pulau Carey, including 1,011.71 hectares of seabed under the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) and 687.96 hectares of coastal land owned by Yayasan Selangor. The first phase of the Pulau Carey terminal is expected to be implemented under the 13th Malaysia Plan (MP13).
