SHAH ALAM, Feb 22 — In conjunction with Aidilfitri, the state government is producing a public service announcement (PSA) carrying messages of unity and mutual assistance among different races.
State executive councillor for culture Datuk Borhan Aman Shah said the short advertisement, lasting about five minutes and featuring actors including Raja Azura and Rushdi Ramli, will be broadcast on Media Selangor and RTM.
“This year, the state administration has decided not to produce a drama. Instead, we are making an advertisement like those by Petronas, RHB Bank and BHP. The message emphasises unity and helping one another across races.
“The storyline is light-hearted, with many humorous scenes, but it carries a strong message. The Menteri Besar and several state executive councillors will also appear in the advertisement,” he told Media Selangor.
Borhan said the advertisement, which will also involve Chinese and Indian artistes, is scheduled to be filmed around Kuala Langat in the near future.
“In addition to this advertisement, a recording of the Aidilfitri takbir by state leaders, filmed at Masjid Jamek Cina Muslim Klang, will also be aired on RTM during Hari Raya,” he said.
Since 2021, the state government has leveraged the influence of celebrities to promote initiatives for people of all ages. That year, the first Senandung Aidilfitri sketch was broadcast during the Movement Control Order.
In 2022, it continued by featuring well-known artists including Ziana Zain, Sissy Imann, Elyana Emrizal, Raja Azura, Bell Ngasri, and Azlee Senario.
The next Eid, a government-produced drama made its debut on prime-time television with the drama titled Selalu Ada, starring popular actress Erra Fazira.
The next telefilm, titled Ayah Panggil Balik, featured prominent names such as Zaidi Omar, Fazlina Ahmad Daud, Syafie Naswip, Ropie, and Datuk Ahmad Tarmimi Siregar.
Last year, the emotionally charged telefilm Hanya Kita, directed by Che Mie, portrayed the story of two children who became orphans after losing their parents in a tragic accident.
