PKPS eyes strategic partnerships for stronger food ecosystem

SHAH ALAM, Feb 19 — The Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) said it is expanding strategic collaborations that strengthen the nation’s food ecosystem and support sustainable development.

“PKPS is committed to broadening strategic networks that can reinforce the country’s food ecosystem, create economic value, and support sustainable and resilient development,” it said in a Facebook statement after a meeting on food security and potential interstate partnerships with Sabah’s Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industries Ministry (MAFFI) recently.

The courtesy visit was led by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, who is also PKPS board of directors chairman, while MAFFI was represented by its minister Datuk Jamawi Jaafar. Also present were PKPS group chief executive officer Datuk Mohamad Khairil Mohamad Razi.

“The discussion covered the strengthening of food supply chains, innovation of the agrofood sector, sharing of expertise, and launch of joint initiatives to enhance the resilience of agrofood systems between the two states,” PKPS said.

Last month, PKPS launched the Agribusiness Transformation Plan 2026-2030 (SEED 2030) to strengthen food security and accessibility amid global uncertainty.

Amirudin had said that the five-year plan covers the plantation, livestock, dairy, retail, and international market sectors, which are expected to significantly boost the state’s revenue.

SEED 2030 is driven by five strategic pillars — supported by PKPS’ four main subsidiaries — and leverages automation, data analytics, and artificial intelligence-based systems.
