GOMBAK, Feb 17 — In conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration, Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari visited fellow activists during his tour of the Gombak parliamentary and Sungai Tua state constituencies.
Starting in Selayang Baru, Amirudin arrived at 11.30am with his wife, Datin Seri Masdiana Muhammad, and their children to visit activist Bill Lim.
Dressed in a red batik shirt, he spent nearly 30 minutes catching up while enjoying festive snacks served by Lim’s family.
In a warm and harmonious atmosphere, Amirudin and the Lim family also tossed yee sang — a symbol of prosperity and longevity in Chinese culture — and distributed ang pow to guests.
They also mingled with guests and obliged requests for photos, adding to the festive cheer of the visit.
Lim said he was touched by the visit, noting that it was the first time the Menteri Besar had come to his home.
“I am very grateful and moved when the Gombak MP’s office informed me that Amirudin would be visiting. My family immediately made early preparations.
“I hope unity and harmony in Selangor will continue to be preserved and grow stronger under his leadership,” he said.
Amirudin, who is also the Sungai Tua state assemblyman, is next scheduled to visit other activists, namely Ah Chai, Alex Kee and physiotherapist Datuk Allen Lim Kok On.
