SHAH ALAM, Feb 16 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said he is giving his full attention to an incident where a tree fell on a car in Section 7 here today, injuring two victims.
In a Facebook post, he urged all quarters to pray for the well-being of the victims, who are lecturers at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).
“I was informed about the fallen tree incident in Section 7 Shah Alam that involved two UiTM lecturers.
“Let us pray that both lecturers are safe and recover soon, God willing,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kota Anggerik assemblyman Mohd Najwan Halimi urged the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) to monitor and take appropriate action on old trees along main routes.
He added that aged trees with weakening, rotting roots must be replaced with new trees.
“I pray that both victims of the fallen tree incident just now — Dr Nur Shahidah Ab Aziz and Dr Shareena Fairuz Abdul Manaf — are granted a speedy recovery and their affairs made easy,” Najwan, who is also state executive councillor for youth, sports and entrepreneurship, said in a statement today.
In the 12.11pm incident, the two lecturers were injured when their vehicle was crushed by a fallen tree on Persiaran Tun Arshad Ayub in Section 7 here.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director (operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the victims were sent to Shah Alam Hospital for treatment.
It is understood that the victims, who are both UiTM Shah Alam Faculty of Chemical Engineering lecturers, are both conscious and receiving treatment under doctors’ watch in the hospital’s critical zone.
