PUTRAJAYA, Feb 5 — Malaysia’s Election Commission (EC) has received invitations to observe general elections in Thailand and Bangladesh this month.
Thailand’s general election will be held on Sunday, while Bangladesh’s is scheduled for February 12.
EC secretary Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus said the agency’s participation in both elections is in line with its ongoing commitment to strengthening international cooperation networks and enhancing electoral governance through the sharing of experiences and best practices by observing general elections in other countries.
“This programme also reflects the international community’s confidence in Malaysia and the EC as a credible election management institution.
“The EC believes interactions and dialogue with election management bodies of other countries will continue to contribute to efforts to further improve the conduct of elections in Malaysia,” Khairul said in a statement today.
EC chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun will lead the delegation to Bangladesh, while EC management representatives will attend the exercise in Thailand.
