E-waste dumping: Stricter enforcement all ports, minister says

PUTRAJAYA, Feb 3 — Enforcement against illegal e-waste entering the country will be intensified at all ports, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said.

The move is in line with recent instructions by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to carry out frequent operations against such activities.

“AKPS (Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency) was asked to carry out continuous operations and now is the time to act, not plan. This is what is stressed by the prime minister to the agency,” he said at a media conference after a gathering with MCBA personnel here today.

Home Ministry secretary-general Datuk Awang Alik Jeman and AKPS director-general Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain were present at the event.

Saifuddin Nasution added that enforcement would also involve other agencies.
