SHAH ALAM, Jan 27 — The Selangor government is strengthening global leadership development among civil servants through a strategic collaboration with Peking University, China, including the implementation of a Global Leadership Development Programme.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the partnership follows his visit to China last September and was further reinforced by a reciprocal visit from the Peking University Alumni Association to Selangor yesterday.
The programme offers a comprehensive curriculum designed with renowned instructors, balancing theoretical and practical learning.
“The programme covers current strategic issues such as artificial intelligence (AI), digital economy, environmental, social and governance (ESG), 5G technology, and quality governance. It also includes industry visits and real case studies to provide practical exposure, particularly in empowering the global leadership of Selangor state government officers,” he said in a Facebook post.

Amirudin added that participants will gain holistic learning experiences, including exposure to the iconic Peking University campus, field learning, and cross-cultural exchanges.
“Qualified participants will also receive an official certificate from Peking University as recognition,” he said.
The discussions also covered opportunities for two-month practical placements for local and international students with the state government, involving executive councillor offices and government-linked companies (GLCs).

“The initiative aims to provide students with direct exposure to the state’s administrative system and governance practices,” he said.
Amirudin said the collaboration is expected to expand knowledge exchange, broaden global perspectives, and strengthen leadership for more competitive governance.
The session was also attended by executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han.
