SIBU, Jan 15 — The number of flood evacuees housed at temporary relief centres (PPS) in Sarawak has dropped to 507 people from 158 families as of 4pm today, compared with 611 people from 194 families reported this morning.
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) said four PPS remained in operation in the Sibu and Bintulu divisions.
“In Sibu, the relief centre at SMK Bukit Assek is accommodating six evacuees from one family. In Bintulu, the Dewan Suarah PPS is housing 251 people from 73 families,” it said in a statement.
The number of evacuees at Balai Raya Sebauh and SMK Sebauh relief centres has also declined, with 143 people from 51 families and 107 people from 33 families currently housed there, compared with 150 people from 54 families and 177 people from 54 families recorded this morning.
