SHAH ALAM, Jan 15 — Selangor residents are encouraged to make use of the Ambulans Kita Selangor (AKS) facility, a state government initiative that provides free ambulance services for non-emergency cases.
It prioritises those in need, particularly patients unable to afford private ambulances or specialised transport.
AKS' scope covers transfers from home to government hospitals and vice versa, as well as inter-hospital transfers between government hospitals, including to Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur, and Perak.
“To apply for this service, applicants must be Selangor residents with a household income not exceeding RM5,000 per month,” said the state government in a statement today.
Applicants must also meet certain criteria, like bedridden patients who require full mobility assistance or those who need a continuous supply of oxygen gas throughout the journey.
Those interested can apply through the nearest state constituency community service centre. Booking forms are available in Appendix A1 and via a QR code below.
State executive councillor for public health and the environment Jamaliah Jamaluddin said AKS on November 7 last year to support patient mobility to hospitals for medical appointments, follow-up treatments, and regular care.
“This service was established to reduce patients’ financial burden and to provide sustainable access to quality healthcare for Selangor's people,” she said.
Jamaliah added that the initiative also helps ensure that chronic patients do not miss follow-up treatment solely due to transport constraints.
The state government remains committed to expanding access to quality healthcare services through a comprehensive and people-centric approach.
