SHAH ALAM, Jan 14 — The Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) continues to strengthen comprehensive faith rehabilitation efforts for former members of Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH).
Its chairman Dato' Salehuddin Saidin said the council is working closely with the Royal Malaysia Police, the Selangor Islamic Religious Department, the Selangor Zakat Board, as well as mosque managements to ensure the rehabilitation process is implemented effectively.
“As of December 31, 2025, 1,176 adults and 1,410 children, who are former GISBH members, have been registered as asnaf riqab, enabling assistance to be channelled lawfully and on a sustained basis.
“Through the asnaf riqab allocation, Mais spent RM4.9 million throughout 2025 to support rehabilitation efforts and the welfare of the affected group,” he said when delivering the Mais 2026 address at Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz today.
Salehuddin also expressed gratitude for the State Legislative Assembly's passage of the Selangor State Administration of Islamic Religion Bill (Amendment) 2025 on July 7 last year.
“This amendment is crucial to ensure that the efforts of the state government and Mais in safeguarding harmony in the management and administration of Islam in Selangor are grounded in the creed of Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah,” he said.
The chairman emphasised that the faith rehabilitation measures and the strengthening of the legal framework reflect the continued commitment of the state government and Mais to protecting Muslims from any form of deviation in matters of faith.
