KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 10 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the performance of enforcement agencies over the past two years has been commendable, especially in their action against high-profile figures.
He said agencies such as the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Inland Revenue Board (LHDN), and Immigration Department (JIM) have demonstrated a strong commitment to carrying out their duties.
“I think from the last two years, the performance of effective enforcement has been quite commendable.
“I am not saying I am totally satisfied, but we have gone through all the big guns, including former prime ministers and former ministers,” he told a press conference after attending the debut of Zoo Negara’s new giant panda pair in Hulu Kelang today.
He said the government is closely monitoring Cabinet members and government officials to ensure accountability and integrity in the administration.
However, he stressed that corruption in Malaysia is not just endemic but also systemic, and addressing it requires sustained effort.
Nevertheless, Anwar reaffirmed the government’s firm resolve to continue pursuing anti-corruption measures.
