KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 7 — A company secretary pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court today to a charge of submitting false financial statements to the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) three years ago.
Mohd Khairul Amini A. Ramli, 54, was charged with making false statements on material details in the "Financial Report and Statements for the Year Ended 31 December 2022" of Xperanti IOT (M) Sdn Bhd.
The false statement claimed the financial statements were circulated to company members on November 28, 2023, though they were not.
The offence is alleged to have occurred at Menara SSM@Sentral, KL Sentral, on November 29, 2023. If convicted under Section 593(b) of the Companies Act 2016, he faces up to 10 years imprisonment, a fine of up to RM3 million, or both.
Judge Siti Shakirah Mohtarudin granted RM10,000 bail and set February 12 for the case’s next mention.
SSM officer Farieza Hazreen Salehuddin handled the prosecution, while lawyer Muhammad Amir Akmal Ahmad Shukri represented the accused.
