SHAH ALAM, Jan 7 — KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd (KDEBWM) has confirmed that one of its trash compactors was involved in a crash along Jalan Iskandar in Bukit Kapar, Klang, around 4.30pm yesterday.
In a statement, the firm said the lorry was en route to a landfill after collecting waste, when it skidded off the road and into a drain.
It identified environmental factors and road conditions as among possible factors of the crash, adding that an internal investigation is underway.
“The lorry has since been recovered from the drain with the assistance of a towing service. It was subsequently handled by KDEBWM’s appointed panel, (which) sent (the vehicle) to a workshop for technical inspection and repairs.
“The incident did not involve any attempt to evade inspection by the Road Transport Department (JPJ),” it said today.
It advised members of the public not to speculate about the incident and cause confusion or misunderstanding while the investigation is ongoing.
“We take operational safety, compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), and the welfare of our drivers seriously.
“We will implement appropriate improvements from time to time to prevent similar incidents from recurring,” KDEBWM said.
