SHAH ALAM, Dec 29 — Selangor remains a destination of choice for family vacations, with its various offerings for the year-end school holidays.
Tourism Selangor chief executive officer Chua Yee Ling said the state’s advantage lies in its diversity of tourism experiences that are within reach, especially for families in the Klang Valley.
“Selangor is a tourism destination that is easily accessible, complete, and suitable for all ages. Be they urban getaways, theme parks, natural environments, or education-based experiences, Selangor has it all.
“This state not only has the nation’s largest theme park network, but offers environment- and rural-based tourism.
“If you want to enjoy ecotourism, visit Kuala Selangor, as well as agrotourism in rural areas and edutourism products that combine education and recreation,” Chua said during Media Selangor’s Bicara Semasa programme.
She said the year-end school holiday is an important period for the last sprint for Visit Selangor Year (VSY) 2025, which aims to draw eight million tourists.
Since September, the state has met 80 per cent of the target, or 6.4 million visitors, with the remaining 20 per cent set to be achieved as the year ends.
“The school holiday is an important time for the tourism industry as most families choose to vacation at this time. It is our last sprint to achieve eight million visitors for VSY 2025,” she added.
She also said VSY will be continued into next year to complement Visit Malaysia 2026, to ensure the state’s continued tourism promotions.
“This is a national push for Visit Malaysia 2026, in addition to ensuring Selangor’s tourism promotions are continuous and impactful,” Chua added.
