Selangor awaits Jupem report for territorial boundary demarcation

AMPANG JAYA, Dec 27 — The state government is currently awaiting the Malaysian Survey and Mapping Department (Jupem) to complete its report on the redelineation process involving Selangor and the Putrajaya Federal Territory.

Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the report would form the basis for the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the state government and the Federal Territories Department.

“Once the report is completed, we will sign an MOU with the Federal Territories Department, after which the process of finalising the boundary demarcation can be implemented within one to two years,” he said.

Amirudin was speaking to the media after officiating the distribution of Back to School assistance for the Hulu Kelang state constituency today.

Previously, he said the boundary demarcation process between Selangor and Putrajaya was expected to be fully finalised by the end of this year, with most boundary areas involving Putrajaya, Sepang, and Kuala Langat nearing completion.

The Menteri Besar also noted that Jupem had completed the measurement and mapping phase of the boundary between Selangor and the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory, covering 103.7 kilometres, by the end of October last year.

“Overall, a total of 86 map sheets were recorded, involving a boundary alignment spanning 103.7 kilometres,” Amirudin said.
