SHAH ALAM, Dec 21 — A tower run clinic by the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) that has been running for 115 weeks has received recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR).

The programme, held with the Malaysia Towerrunning Association, uplifts Petaling Jaya as the national tower-running hub and strengthens the high-performance sport ecosystem locally and internationally.

“This initiative reflects MBPJ’s commitment to promote a healthy lifestyle and boost community involvement.

“It is also proof of a commitment to develop an inclusive and sustainable economy for high-performance sports, by making the MBPJ Tower the Malaysia Tower Running Official Training Centre,” said the local council in a Facebook post.

An MBOR representative presented the accreditation certificate to Petaling Jaya Mayor Dato’ Mohamad Zahri Samingon during the Tower Run and MBPJ Young Athlete Search event yesterday.

Previously, MBPJ celebrated the success of an athlete it sponsors, Soh Wai Ching, who again made Malaysia proud by being named World No.1 Tower Runner and Shanghai Towerrunning Challenge overall champion.

Malaysia’s No.1 tower runner ran up 119 floors (552m) in 18 minutes and three seconds, cementing his reputation as the world’s best tower runner.
