Banting Hospital set to receive new block, easing congestion

SHAH ALAM, Dec 19 — The construction of an additional block at Banting Hospital is expected to enhance user comfort and reduce congestion.

State executive councillor for housing and culture Datuk Borhan Aman Shah said the addition to the hospital, which has been in operation for over half a century, is highly anticipated by Kuala Langat residents.

This is because the facility has become a primary healthcare hub for the local community, but challenges have arisen due to increasing congestion and limited space.

“With the approval from the Cabinet and the Prime Minister, the construction will bring much-needed relief, particularly to the people of Kuala Langat who are in a critical situation.

“My visits to the male, female, and children’s wards found that additional beds have been added, resulting in less comfortable conditions,” he told Media Selangor after carrying out an official visit to Hospital Banting today.

Meanwhile, Borhan said he hopes the Health Ministry will pay attention to Banting Hospital's urgent needs throughout the construction period, particularly to repairing damaged roofs that have caused leaks in the ceilings.

“I am concerned that the damage could disrupt patients, as there have been incidents of ceilings collapsing and leaks occurring. Only two blocks have yet to be replaced,” he said.

Borhan added that his official visit is aimed at boosting morale among patients and healthcare workers, and ensuring that state leaders continue to go to the ground to hear complaints and issues firsthand.

During the visit, the councillor also presented a contribution of 10 wheelchairs to the hospital's management for patients’ use.
