SHAH ALAM, Dec 19 — The RM33 million Wira Damai Islamic Complex serves as a community development centre, especially for the local community, and will become a new landmark in Gombak.

Based on the concept of Malay Nusantara architecture, it incorporates traditional decorative elements and floral motif carvings rooted in local culture and heritage.

Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad (PNSB) chief executive officer Raja Ahmad Shahrir Iskandar Raja Salim said the 10.73-acre development includes lecture rooms, a dining room, a recreation area, and a quarter block.

The mosque, covering 41,000 square feet, can accommodate 2,750 worshippers and is equipped with two lecture rooms and a funeral room, covering 6,420 square feet.

"This project is equipped with a kitchen that can accommodate 200 individuals, while a four-unit quarter block measuring 1,000 square feet is for the use of imams and bilals," he told Media Selangor.

Shahrir added that the project, scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2027, also upgrades the water reservoir to encourage visitors to relax and enjoy the limestone panorama at Batu Caves.

The complex being built is the second religious centre developed by PNSB after Masjid Ma'muniah in Sabak Bernam.

He believes it will benefit the residents of Kampung Melayu Wira Damai, Kampung Sungai Kertas, Taman Gombak Permai, and the surrounding community.

"Once the complex is complete, we will hand it over to the mosque management and the Selangor Islamic Religious Department to carry out religious programmes.

"PNSB hopes that it can provide comfort to residents and suitable development for worship, recreation, and gaining knowledge," Shahrir said.

In September last year, Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari officiated the ground-breaking ceremony for the complex, which will benefit approximately 10,000 residents of the Sungai Tua state constituency.

He said it also provides more comfortable prayer facilities for residents, replacing the dilapidated and crowded Masjid An-Nur Kampung Wira Damai.
