Number of flood evacuees in Perak, Sarawak continue to drop

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 12 — The flood situation in Perak is steadily improving, with the number of evacuees at temporary relief centres (PPS) continuing to drop this afternoon, while the figure in Sarawak has shown a slight decline.

The Perak Disaster Management Committee Secretariat (JPBN) said four people from a family remain at the Kampung Padang Tembak multipurpose hall PPS in Hilir Perak, down from 19 evacuees from five families this morning.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain and thunderstorms across all Perak districts until 8pm.

The Sarawak JPBN reported that as of 4pm, the number of victims had dipped slightly to 141 people from 65 families, compared with 142 this morning. All of them remain at three PPS in Miri.

Twelve people from four families are taking shelter at SK Kampung Angus, and 121 people from 58 families are housed at SK Suai Niah.

Meanwhile, the Red Crescent hall is accommodating four flood victims from two families, as well as four family members who were relocated there due to a landslide.
