KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 12 — Continuous rain is forecast to hit several areas in Sarawak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, and Johor from tomorrow until Tuesday (December 16).
The Malaysian Meteorological Department's (MetMalaysia) alert-level warning issued at 1pm stated that Sarawak is expected to experience continuous rain from tomorrow until December 16, affecting Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, and Mukah.
Similar weather conditions are forecast across Terengganu and several areas in Kelantan: Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Bharu, Tanah Merah, Bachok, Machang, and Pasir Puteh, for three days starting on Sunday (December 14).
Continuous rain is also forecast in Johor, covering Segamat, Kluang, Mersing and Kota Tinggi, and in Pahang, affecting Jerantut, Maran, Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin, from Sunday until Tuesday.
In a separate alert, it issued a Category One Strong Wind and Rough Sea Warning for waters off East Johor, Pahang, Terengganu, and Kelantan, effective until Thursday (December 18).
Strong northeasterly winds of 40 to 50 km/h, with waves reaching up to 3.5 metres, were expected in the affected waters during this period.
MetMalaysia added that the strong winds and rough sea conditions were dangerous for small boats, recreational activities at sea and marine sports.
It also issued a warning over a rise in sea level in the waters off East Johor, Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan from tomorrow to Monday (December 15).
The condition could lead to seawater overflowing along the coast, particularly in low-lying and exposed areas.
