PETALING JAYA, Dec 8 — Cash assistance channelled by Yayasan Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI to residents affected by the recent storm in Petaling Jaya arrived at the right time, easing their burden as they work to repair their homes.
One aid recipient, who only wanted to be known as Halizan, 51, expressed gratitude for the support, describing it as a blessing during a difficult period.
“This contribution really lightens our burden. At the very least, we can repair or replace damaged items,” he said, expressing appreciation to all involved.
Halizan was among 15 families who received cash aid today after their homes in Kampung Lindungan were affected by the recent storm.

The presentation ceremony took place at Dewan Keluarga Harmoni yesterday, with financial assistance distributed to 12 flats (RM500 each) and three terrace houses (RM1,000 each).
Meanwhile, Puvenes Kalliappan, 38, described the aid as a “lifesaver” after her home suffered severe damage, including a torn-off roof and ruined furniture.
“We were relieved when the assistance arrived. The losses were significant, and the presence of Yayasan MBI just hours after the incident was a great help, especially as I have a child sitting for the SPM examinations,” she said.
Puvenes added that the assistance would be used prudently to ensure that essential repairs could be carried out immediately.

For Aminah Khairi, 38, the foundation's swift action showed its concern for affected residents.
“MBI has never neglected disaster victims. They act quickly, and that brings us relief,” she said, emphasising that the cash aid greatly helped her family manage their post-storm needs.
This initiative once again demonstrates the importance of swift action and coordinated efforts among Yayasan MBI, the local authorities, and elected representatives to safeguard the welfare of disaster victims.
