SHAH ALAM, Dec 4 — Several major rivers in Selangor have exceeded alert and danger levels following heavy rain this evening.

The development is based on updated data from the Selangor Irrigation and Drainage Department's (JPS) official Infobanjir portal, as of 10.20pm.

The location recording the most significant rise is Sungai Langat in Bukit Changgang, Kuala Langat, which is now at 4.75m or 0.55m above the danger level.

Sungai Langat in Jenderam Hilir, Sepang, has also risen to 12.31m, surpassing the danger threshold with an upward trend continuing.

In Hulu Selangor, the water level of Sungai Bernam at the SKC Bridge stands at 18.69m, slightly above the alert level, while the reading at Rimba KDR, Sabak Bernam, shows 2.22m, which is also above the alert level but is currently declining.

Several other rivers, including Sungai Semenyih at Pekan Bangi Lama, Kampung Pasir, and Sungai Langat at Batu 12 Hulu Langat, are at the alert stage, with some showing signs of rising water levels.

Meanwhile, according to the Social Welfare Department's InfoBencana portal, two PPS were opened in Hulu Langat today: SRA Dusun Nanding and SK Sungai Serai.

The PPS at SK Sungai Serai currently shelters 127 flood victims, while SRA Dusun Nanding houses 156.

In total, 798 flood victims from 253 families are taking shelter at nine PPS as of tonight.

Three districts have opened PPS so far:

  • Kuala Selangor (opened November 26) with six PPS operating, housing 502 flood victims from 147 families.

  • Hulu Langat (opened today) with two PPS operating, housing 283 flood victims from 98 families.

  • Sabak Bernam (opened on December 1) with one PPS operating, housing 13 flood victims from eight families.
