SHAH ALAM, Dec 2 — The public is reminded to remain vigilant to changes in the weather and environmental conditions following a warning of a high tide phenomenon in Klang, starting tomorrow until this Sunday (December 7).

The Klang District Disaster Management Committee said sea levels are expected to reach up to 5.2 metres, based on forecasts from the Malaysian Meteorological Department and the National Hydrographic Centre.

This phenomenon is expected to occur around Port Klang Station, with the highest tidal readings recorded for three consecutive days from Thursday (December 4) to Saturday (December 6).

On Thursday, the highest tide of 5.2 metres is expected at around 4.58am, while on Friday (December 5) and Saturday, it is expected to occur at 5.46am and 6.31am, respectively.

Weather forecasts indicate the possibility of thunderstorms in several areas in the morning and evening throughout the phenomenon, particularly on Friday and Saturday.

High tide readings are also expected in the afternoon, ranging between 4.5 and 5.0 metres, while night-time weather is generally forecast to be dry except on Saturday and Sunday.

6 and 7 December.

The Disaster Management Committee advises the public, especially residents in flood-prone areas, to take precautionary measures and ensure all safety preparations have been made.

The public is also urged to follow the latest updates from relevant agencies and to avoid coastal and river mouth areas when high sea levels are recorded.
