SHAH ALAM, Dec 2 — Four hundred mobile emergency pumps are operating across the country, while 206 more are at the ready, in preparation for the northeast monsoon, showed the latest Irrigation and Drainage Department (JPS) data.

In Selangor, 153 pumps have been installed in areas at risk of flooding, such as Kuala Selangor and Kuala Langat, with 130 pumps operational and 23 on standby.

The following is a list of the number of mobile emergency pumps deployed in each state:

  • Perak: 135 (74 operational, 61 on standby)

  • Johor: 70 (60 operational, 10 on standby)

  • Kelantan: 48 (14 operational, 34 on standby)

  • Kedah: 28 (six operational, 22 on standby)

  • Penang: 28 (15 operational, 13 on standby)

  • Perlis: 27 (seven operational, 20 on standby)

  • Sabah: 26 (all operational)

  • Terengganu: 26 (12 operational, 14 on standby)

  • Pahang: 25 (17 operational, eight on standby)

  • Negeri Sembilan: 13 (five operational, eight on standby)

  • Melaka: 13 (all operational)

  • Sarawak: 9 (all operational)

  • Labuan: 4 (all operational)

  • Kuala Lumpur: 1 (all operational)

Previously, the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry (Petra) said Malaysia is preparing mechanical and electrical assets to face the northeast monsoon.

It said the asset capacity would enable quicker, more effective response, especially in addressing stagnant floodwaters.
