KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 29 — Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has advised the public to remain vigilant following reports of rising river levels across multiple states.

In a Facebook post, he said that based on the latest data from the Irrigation and Drainage Department (JPS), the affected rivers are in Perlis, Kedah, Perak, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor, Terengganu and Kelantan.

“I wish to remind everyone to stay alert. Several rivers in these states are now at caution, warning, and danger levels according to the latest JPS report,” he said.

He also informed the public that they can check the current status via the Public Info Banjir website.

“Avoid high-risk areas, especially during continuous rain. Stay updated on weather developments, steer clear of strong currents, and follow instructions from authorities. May we all be protected and granted ease in our affairs,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) reported that a tropical depression over the South China Sea is expected to have no significant impact on Malaysia.

According to the agency’s statement, the depression was detected at 8am today and is moving east-northeast at a speed of 15kph.
