KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 28 — Journalist and Gerakan Media Merdeka (Geramm) co-founder Radzi Razak has been appointed as the Malaysian Media Council's (MMC) Council Secretary, effective December 1, for a two-term period until December 31, 2027.
It said he will be responsible for the media industry self-regulatory body's overall administration and management, subject to policies set by the Board as provided under Section 12 of the MMC Act 2025.
"He will lead and supervise the Council Secretariat. The Council Board is confident that Radzi is capable and qualified to lead the Secretariat during its formative phase, ensuring continued fulfilment of the mandate and functions entrusted to the Council.
"Radzi, with the support of Deputy Secretary Faiz Mustafa, will now begin forming the Council Secretariat team, expected to comprise about 10 members, to carry out the Council's functions and responsibilities," MMC said in a statement today.
The council added that Radzi previously served on the Media Council's pro tem committee, in addition to being one of the Founding Board Members appointed by Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil on July 15.
