SHAH ALAM, Nov 27 — Three high-capacity mobile pumps have been installed and are operating at three critical locations in the Kuala Selangor district to reduce the impact of the ongoing floods.
The Selangor Irrigation and Drainage Department (JPS) said the first installation in Kampung Parit Mahang involves a 10-cusec (280 litres/second) hydraulic pump provided by the Kuala Langat District JPS to control and lower flood levels in the area.
At the Jaya Setia Pump House in Bestari Jaya, JPS' Mechanical and Electrical Division (BPME) has also completed the installation of a five-cusec (140 l/s) hydraulic pump to control flood levels in Kampung Jaya Setia.
Meanwhile, at the RB Embankment in Kampung Ampangan, Tanjung Karang, the division installed a 10-cusec (280 l/s) hydraulic pump to regulate water levels in the surrounding area.
“JPS Selangor is also in the process of installing mobile pumps at several critical locations in the Kuala Selangor district to ensure the flood impact can be minimised,” it said in a Facebook post tonight.
