SHAH ALAM, Nov 27 — Approximately 101 flood victims in the Meru and Sungai Kandis areas received fidyah aid from the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) in the form of dry food boxes worth RM22,422.
Its chairman Dato’ Salehuddin Saidin said they remain committed to implementing various initiatives to assist affected communities, particularly flood victims.
“Today, Mais is helping 65 families affected by floods in Sungai Kandis, and fidyah contributions were also distributed in Meru yesterday,” he told the press during the aid handover ceremony at Dewan MBSA in Sungai Kandis this evening.
Salehuddin added that each aid recipient received a box containing basic necessities, including sugar, rice, cooking oil, wheat flour, milk, biscuits, canned food, and chocolate drinks, valued at around RM222.
The use of fidyah funds aims to support disaster victims while serving the broader welfare of the Muslim community by easing the burden of the needy.
Meanwhile, one recipient, Sulaiman Kasuri, 57, expressed his appreciation for the assistance received.
“My thanks to Mais for providing aid during this flood situation,” he told Media Selangor.
Another recipient, Siti Nor Fadzilah Ali, 43, also expressed her gratitude for the assistance earlier today.
“I am grateful that caring parties are willing to help; it has eased our burden to some extent,” she said.
